Project GNU / Telephony Launches SIP Server Witch


Initial stable version release Witch Sip Server, as part of a system of free alternatives to Skype has launched the GNU Free Call by the Free Software Foundation version 1.0 of the GNU SIP Witch following Server client components are required, after the presence of the GNU Project-Free-Call was published around two months ago.

Using the new system was launched to make the connections possible to talk Peer-to-Peer who communicate using a password system ZRTP. GNU-Free-Call is targeted as an equivalent system developed openly to serve as an alternative to Skype who recently have acquired the Microsoft.


Witch Sip Server source code that is compiled, is now available for Mac OS X systems, BSD systems, Windows and Linux. In addition, a variant to run on Googles Android promised to follow.


A web portal will be launched in mid year to manage the handling perangat communication using SIP phone or software that empowers the computer as a phone device. Besides SIP Witch, the GNU Project or GNU Free Telephony Call also develop Bayonne, a telephony server, which has been productive way, and supported by a number of hardware that can be developed using Perl and Python scripts. 


GNU SIP Witch has been developed from three years ago and adopted a free license GPLv3. Besides SIP Witch inaugural version is available for "Technological Assistance Packages" (TAP), which contains switch view Desktop-Client for its functionality on the local computer.
